Who is behind the work

PureSurfers operates PureSurfers and guides its editorial direction. The project combines surf experience with research, design, software and contributions from local knowledge. Read about the project. We do not invent expert credentials, professional review, product testing or testimonials.

Firsthand, researched, provisional: say which

A personal observation is not a universal rule. A directory listing is not a surveyed takeoff. A coaching preference is not automatically a scientific consensus. Our aim is to label these distinctions, retain sources and explain uncertainty when it changes how a reader should use the information.

Surf Insights includes AI-assisted research and editorial synthesis, with original observations and demonstrations added as they are available. AI assists with organization, research synthesis and code; it has not surfed the wave or tested the equipment. Until a claim is supported by actual testing, we do not present it as tested.

What a useful lesson should deliver

A recognizable problem, the missing detail, a clear correction or explanation, what to notice on the next attempt and where that advice may not apply. Your body, board, waves, mobility and experience can change the answer. Use a guide as a starting point—not a substitute for judgment or instruction suited to you.

Original images and demonstrations will be added as they are produced. We do not label a stock image, simulation or generated visual as photographic evidence of a test.

Health and safety claims need their own evidence

Technique guidance and medical claims are different things. Wound care, infection, sunscreen protection and persistent symptoms require appropriate sources and professional advice where relevant. Surf articles are educational information, not individualized medical care, rescue instructions or a certification that conditions are safe.

A professional-review credit is added only after that person actually reviews the material and agrees to the attribution.

Corrections are welcome

Send the exact passage or spot, the proposed correction and any supporting source or firsthand context. State whether you can be quoted. We assess corrections before publication; a submission does not automatically change a shared pin or forecast.

When substantive corrections are made, our aim is to identify what changed and distinguish an editorial revision from a refreshed forecast. We do not change an article date merely to make old material look new.

Local knowledge without needless exposure

Preserving a name does not require publishing a private access route or encouraging trespass. Approximate locations stay labeled. Sensitive submissions are not automatically public. A contributor can request limited attribution or private review, although sending information through email still involves mail providers.

Free fundamentals, independent judgments

Surf Insights is free to read without an account or email gate. The beginner material is a gift back to the surfing community. A product mention is not automatically an endorsement, and advertising must not be disguised as a lesson.

If a future article involves affiliate compensation, a sponsor, a loaned product or another material relationship, it should disclose that relationship clearly. Paid relationships do not justify invented results or suppressed limitations. This update adds no advertisements, affiliate links or subscription prompts.

Public credit is a choice

We publish under the PureSurfers byline. Contributions can be credited by an agreed public name or described as a local contribution. We do not invent personal testing, credentials or a review panel. Do not send private access instructions, identifying information about other surfers, or photographs you do not have permission to share.

Our regional additions separate source-backed context from suggested comparison methods. Official access links are references to check before a visit, not a permanent statement that every route is open.
