The Manhattan guide identifies El Porto as a surfing area and documents beach facilities and the coastal path. These are useful resources for planning where to arrive; they are not interchangeable forecast profiles.
The atlas separates Malibu’s local regions from Santa Monica Bay, the South Bay and the peninsula. Read the individual break type and swell notes before comparing colored heights. The same numerical range can describe quite different waves, and a regional model does not resolve every local section.

Good etiquette is specific
Use designated access, keep paths and parking entrances clear, watch a full set cycle and avoid disrupting an occupied ride. A correction should identify a fact that can be checked: the place, the wording, the source and the date. Our purpose is useful shared knowledge, not a contest over who gets to enjoy the coast.

A useful first comparison
Use two Malibu references or two South Bay references as a first comparison rather than leapfrogging the entire county. Check current county beach information for the approach, then read the model and observation timestamps. The guide is a way to reduce guesswork, not a guarantee of parking or surf.
