Model spread is not a confidence interval. Tide and wind are context, not new corrections to surf size. Larger sets and changing hazards remain possible.

THE FIELD GUIDE / Church
Read this stretch of coast.
Identify the section you are watching
The wider Church area can look different from the water than from an approximate map pin. Watch where surfers gather, where sets first break and where rides finish. Make a note of the exact section you surfed so that a useful session record does not become a claim about the entire stretch.
Use the shared swell as context
Church shares regional forecast input with the Trestles entries. Compare the available components with the catalogue’s S–W preference, then judge the actual shoulder and water movement from shore. Offshore direction is where the energy comes from; it does not tell you whether a particular wave will break left or right.
Confirm the route before setting out
Follow current park access information and on-site signs; nearby campground or facility access should not be assumed from a map. Check the shoreline for submerged obstacles and plan the return as well as the paddle out. The retained intermediate-plus description is not a guarantee for larger or crowded conditions.

A useful note for next time
Record the section you actually surfed, the time, incoming swell direction and period, wind and tide trend. Add what the wave did: connected sections, closeouts, drift or exposed obstacles. Comparing that observation with the same model next time is more useful than treating one colored number as the whole session.
