Model spread is not a confidence interval. Tide and wind are context, not new corrections to surf size. Larger sets and changing hazards remain possible.

Trestles Inside is a catalogue reference for reforms and smaller peaks across the area, not one surveyed break or a designated learning zone.

Not a single takeoff, but a useful atlas entry for the smaller-wave texture of the zone.
Before paddling out: Currents, crowding, submerged rock or cobble, water-quality changes after rain, and shifting bars.

THE FIELD GUIDE / Trestles Inside
Read this stretch of coast.
Start with the outside set
Watch what happens outside before judging an inside reform. Follow the water and the riders through an entire set: an inviting smaller wave can share an impact zone or a ride path with the main peak. The approximate pin should help you orient, not decide where to wait.
Keep the scale honest
The swell cards are the same offshore model context used elsewhere around Trestles. They do not measure a reform or predict how much energy survives each outside wave. Assess the inside from the beach, and record whether the particular section you surfed stayed separate from the outside lineup.
A smaller wave is not an automatic lesson spot
The catalogue’s beginner-to-intermediate description applies only broadly to the idea of softer inside waves. Crowds, cobble and currents still matter, and the suitable section may not be present today. Choose space based on the actual conditions, your control of the board and current local instructions.

A useful note for next time
Record the section you actually surfed, the time, incoming swell direction and period, wind and tide trend. Add what the wave did: connected sections, closeouts, drift or exposed obstacles. Comparing that observation with the same model next time is more useful than treating one colored number as the whole session.
