Model spread is not a confidence interval. Tide and wind are context, not new corrections to surf size. Larger sets and changing hazards remain possible.

Know the spot
Uppers is the catalogue’s right-dominant performance wave in the Trestles chain, with its own crowd and shape distinct from Lowers.

Mapped distinctly from Lowers and Middles because each has its own character and crowd. Source note: Imported 6.8 catalogue; place and confirm the takeoff.
Before paddling out: Crowds, localism and powerful surfing.

THE FIELD GUIDE / Uppers
Read this stretch of coast.
Watch where the right connects
Follow several surfers from takeoff through the inside. Look for the part of the wall that stays open, where it runs away, and where rides end. This is a more useful shore check than assuming that every wave entering the wider Trestles area will produce the same line.
Keep the model and the reef separate
The offshore sample is shared across nearby Trestles pages. Its primary and secondary swells describe incoming energy, not a measurement at Uppers. Compare direction and period with the catalogue’s S–W preference, then inspect the actual wall before deciding which part of the forecast is relevant.
Leave room for committed rides
The retained rating is advanced, with crowding and fast, committed surfing among the concerns. Read the rotation and the path of riders before entering the lineup. The map does not identify a safe paddle lane; choose your route from the conditions and instructions you can verify at the beach.

A useful note for next time
Record the section you actually surfed, the time, incoming swell direction and period, wind and tide trend. Add what the wave did: connected sections, closeouts, drift or exposed obstacles. Comparing that observation with the same model next time is more useful than treating one colored number as the whole session.
